Driving Trail Ridge Road ... Plus Moose & Bighorn Sheep Sightings - Rocky Mountain National Park - Colorado
Due to our early arrival at Rocky Mountain National Park, we were lucky that the cross-mountain Trail Ridge Road had opened before we left - today was our last day in the park. It wasn't a very pretty day for alpine photos, but we the fact we saw Elk, Moose, & Bighorn Sheep made up for it.
Today we did a popular, short hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. The Gem Lake hike isn't long but there is a lot of elevation gain in a short time, so it's certainly not "easy". But lots of people manage to make it to the small pond framed by rock walls. The people-watching once you are there is part of the fun.
Today we did a great hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. We had to hike through some snow, but the skies were blue and the scenery was fantastic.
Today was our first time in Rocky Mountain National Park. As usual, we went to the visitors center to watch the movie about the park. And then we did a little driving tour where we saw mostly elk, but got a few other wildlife photos as well.
Great Sand Dunes National Park wasn't on our radar, and we really knew nothing about it. However, we were be passing close by in our travels, so we thought we'd check it out. Who knew the largest sand dunes in North America were in the mountains of Colorado?
On our visit to Mesa Verde National Park, we took two guided tours and a short hike. The cliff dwellings are amazing, and Cliff Palace from above is an iconic view.
