Today was a relatively short hike to our last campsite on Isle Royale. Along the way, we had a beaver encounter, and we watched otters at our destination. I caught a couple of pike at a small lake, and we had a wonderful evening. I think I need to plan more of these backpacking adventures.
We were camped several miles east of Yellowstone National Park, but today we were going to make a long drive into and around the park solely to look for wildlife. In addition to elk, bison, pronghorns, otters, marmots, beavers, muskrats, and more, we finally got to see bears (which eluded us last year).
We did this same paddle last year, but the view of the Grand Tetons was obstructed by smoke from wildfires. This year, the view was clear and magnificent.
Today was a wonderful wildlife viewing day as we launched our inflatable kayak at Oxbow Lake and then did a leisurely float down the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park.
