Cruises Overview
We don't do a lot of cruises, but we do enjoy them. They aren't real conducive to getting immersed in nature, but they are a decent, relatively inexpensive way to check out some highlights of places we haven't been and to have some good, old-fashioned, relaxing fun. We find that we enjoy them more with a group of friends, and each time we go, they get longer and longer.
For the purposes of this website, we'll focus mostly on the excursions that get us out into nature rather than life onboard. Note: Our Cruise Journal is in progress.
Not counting the Galapagos Islands, which is in a completely different category, we've been on only four cruises.
Bahamas - 1991
The first was a short 4-day cruise to the Bahamas when we were in our late 20s. It was a cheap vacation and we had an inside, tiny cabin. Of course, it felt luxurious to us at the time. Honestly, we don't remember much about that one. The only thing that stands out to me was the snorkeling over a beautiful reef in the clear waters of the Bahamas.
Western Caribbean - 1999
Our second cruise wasn't until we were in our late 30s. Linda's mother got re-married on a cruise to the Western Caribbean, and we had some friends that joined us. It was fun, but all I really remember about that one was the terrible weather we had.

Mexican Riviera - 2007
Then, in 2007 we joined a group of friends on an 8-day cruise of the Mexican Riviera. It was a 50th birthday celebration. What I remember most about that one is we visited all the places we used to see on the TV show "The Love Boat". We do have some decent photos from that trip.

Southern Caribbean - 2013
In 2013, we gathered a group to do a 10-day Southern Caribbean cruise for Linda's 50th birthday. It was mostly about celebrating and having a good time with our friends, but we did get out on some excursions.
We have some nature photos and videos and maybe a few other non-nature photos for you as well. Coming soon.

Future Cruises
Though we have nothing planned, we're always open to a cruise, and, since we have the freedom, we keep our eyes open for last-minute deals on cruises that interest us.
Linda is really wanting to do a cruise that includes Antarctica, the Falklands, and South Georgia, but that's way out of our price range based on the limited research we've done so far. However, where there's a will there's a way, so maybe someday.
